Welcome to the library
“After nourishment, shelter and companionship, stories are the thing we need most in the world.” – Philip Pullman
At Bude Junior, the library occupies a wonderful space at the heart of the school. The children enjoy a varied selection of fiction, non-fiction and picture books, graphic novels and magazines. The aim of the library is to inspire children to read for pleasure.
The library has an open access policy for children to return and borrow books during school hours. All classes have a designated time each week when children can change their books and browse the library shelves. Children are able to chose a library book to read in addition to their reading book and this can be any fiction or non fiction title.
Each term, library assistants are appointed from years 5 and 6 to help with the running of the library. Library assistants help with shelving and shelf tidying, organise reading competitions and promotions, and deal with any queries from their peers during lunch times.
Mrs Davis, the school library resources coordinator, is in the library on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and is always happy to discuss any queries or questions you may have.
