Welcome to the Summer Term in Year Four

This term, we are learning about the Amazon Rainforest.  In science, we are finding out about animal classification. Our trip to Newquay Zoo on 18th May will include a workshop on animal classes.

Later in the term, we will be carrying out a local study on Bude Canal.  As a part of this project, there will be a fieldwork afternoon at the canal when we will be visiting the museum and conducting a survey about how people use the canal today.

Towards the end of term, we will be having a day at the beach with sports activities and sand sculpture. We would be grateful for any volunteers to support us with these two trips.  Please see the class teacher if you are interested.

PE is still on Wednesdays and Fridays.  Crackington’s library day is Monday and Sandymouth’s is Wednesday.  We are continuing with the Explorer Reading programme and would be grateful if you could hear your child read at least five times a week.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any concerns about your child’s education.

We are looking forward to another productive and successful term.

Welcome to the Spring Term in Year Four

This term, we are studying two main projects – dragons which is a geography and art based project followed by a history themed project looking at crime and punishment through the ages, from Anglo-Saxons to World War Two.

In science, we are looking at sound, including how sounds are made and changed. We will also be using our knowledge to design and make instruments. A second science topic will be changing materials; this will include finding out about the three states of matter (solids, liquids and gases) and the water cycle.

PE will be on Wednesdays and Fridays.

Crackington’s library day is Monday and Sandymouth’s on Wednesday.

We will be continuing with the Explorer Reading programme and would be grateful if you will continue to hear your child read at least five times a week.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns at any time.

We are looking forward to a productive and successful term.
